Implantology

A lost tooth is not only missing visually, it also leaves a gap in the jaw that can destabilise the complete dentition system. Implantology counteracts this by filling the gap in the jaw with an implant and thus preserving the functionality of the bone substance.

Implants, usually made of titanium, are first introduced into the bone. Once the implant is resilient after a certain period of healing, a prosthesis, for example a ceramic or zircon crown, is fitted. This method represents a very quick, comfortable and reliable long-term solution.

Depending on how long the tooth gap already existed, it is possible that the jaw has already degenerated or that bone tissue has degraded at this point. In a very unfavourable jaw situation this would prevent an implant therapy. In this case, a bone augmentation would be required so that the jaw can provide sufficient support for the prosthesis to be implanted. There are several methods for bone augmentation which are used depending on the findings.
