Tooth extraction

A tooth extraction can become necessary due to a number of reasons. For example, very loose teeth caused by advanced periodontal disease, dead teeth and teeth that are heavily infected by caries and cannot be preserved, must be extracted. Even accidents involving complex injuries, so-called dental trauma, can necessitate a tooth extraction. Extraction of the tooth must also be considered in case of inflamed artificial tooth roots, the implants, depending on the severity of the inflammation or if periodontal pockets have formed.

In general a tooth is only extracted if preservation is not possible.

A surgical procedure is performed depending on the positioning of the tooth and whether it is severely damaged, making it impossible to extract the tooth in one piece. Typically this procedure only requires  local anaesthesia. Under certain circumstances, such as the extraction of several teeth, it is recommended performing the surgery under general anaesthesia. The particular procedure always depends on your specific dental situation
